CP NewsAlert: Evacuation order issued as glacier lake bursts northeast of Pemberton

PEMBERTON — A glacier lake has burst and is sending floodwaters towards a community northeast of Pemberton, B.C., triggering an evacuation order.

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District says the Place Glacier lake outburst is ongoing and hazardous debris flows are expected in Place Creek and downstream waterways.

An evacuation order is in effect for more than 20 properties in the Gates Lake and Poole Creek areas, about 150 kilometres north of Vancouver.
