LANGLEY – Police in Langley now say an incident of shots fired last Friday on 45A Avenue in Langley is indeed connected to extortion.

At around 12:41 a.m. Friday morning (June 12), RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 21500 block of 46A Avenue and secured the scene. Officers then found evidence of shots being fired at a home in the neighbourhood, resulting in property damage, but no one was hurt in the incident.

On the day of the incident, police initially said at the time there was no confirmation of links to extortion or the ongoing gang conflict in B.C.

“Through continued investigative efforts, we have determined that this was a targeted, extortion-related shooting,” said Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP. “Incidents like this are concerning, and we want to reassure the public that our investigators are actively working to identify those responsible and mitigate further risk to the community.”

Investigators remain engaged in canvassing for witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and examining evidence. While this incident has now been linked to extortion activity, the investigation remains ongoing.

Langley RCMP continue to ask anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who has dash camera or CCTV footage from the surrounding neighbourhood between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. on June 12, 2026, to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file number 2026-18231.
