VANCOUVER — Daily high temperature records fell at 26 British Columbia locations on Sunday as a weekend heat wave sweeps across the province.

Environment Canada says the highest temperature was reported in Lytton, where it reached 36.8 degrees, breaking the 35.4-degree record set in 2002.

Four other communities — Lillooet, Cache Creek, Pemberton and Port Alberni — surpassed or reached 35 degrees on Sunday, with Pemberton hitting 36.3 degrees.

B.C.’s two biggest population centres also reported record daily highs, with Vancouver reaching 26.8 degrees breaking the mark set in 1932 by 1.2 degrees.
