Chilliwack Cultural Centre steps back in time with special screening of 1949 film

CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Cultural Centre is inviting residents to journey back over 75 years with a special screening of “Sorrowful Jones” – the first film to be shown at the historic Paramount Theatre.

While the theatre was demolished in 2013, guests can still view the film on the original Paramount silver screen, which was preserved and relocated to the Centre after the theatre’s closure.

“You will have the opportunity to relive the magic of a bygone era while honouring one of Chilliwack’s most beloved entertainment landmarks,” said the Centre. 

“Whether you remember visiting the Paramount in its heyday or are discovering its legacy for the first time, Sorrowful Jones promises an unforgettable evening of local history and classic film.”
