MISSION — Police in Mission have been called out to four stolen vehicles – and four people on a boat – in last week’s Community Connection.

RCMP’s latest round-up says officers tackled 348 calls in the first week of June.

On June 1, police found a silver Acura RDX stolen from Abbotsford in late May down an embankment along Dewdney Trunk Road, east of the Mission Dam. They then found a black 2017 GMC Canyon pickup truck, with no wheels, dumped near the 6.5-kilometre mark of the Lost Creek FSR the next day.

That truck had been stolen from Surrey the previous night.

A grey Ford F-350 pickup truck, which was reported stolen in Maple Ridge in November 2025, was partially dismantled and found at a property on Degraff Road in the Hatzic Valley on June 4. It had since been turned over to the ICBC.

Lastly, on June 7, BC Conservation Officers found a white 2020 Dodge Ram 1500, also stolen from Surrey five days prior, in an embankment off the Lost Creek FSR.

In another call, Mission RCMP were paged out to the Fraser River after a concerned person reported a small fibreglass boat experiencing mechanical issues.

An officer checked on the four occupants, who had managed to reach the riverbank, and was given the okay by three of them as they were waiting for a friend to bring another boat to tow them home.

The last person did not want to speak with the police, to the point that they immediately ran up to cross the train bridge as a train was also starting to cross it.

“The person was forced to jump off into the water, to avoid being hit by the train,” said RCMP. “The public is reminded to only cross train tracks at designated crossing locations, and never to attempt to walk across the train bridge.”

Mission Fire then arrived and used a drone to confirm that the person had made it to shore.
