U-Haul says Chilliwack is one of Canada’s top growing cities

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack has another recognition it can be proud of. According to the latest U-Haul Growth Index, Chilliwack is ranked as the tenth Growth City in Canada.

Due to fewer people leaving the area in 2022, Chilliwack netted a larger percentage of arrivals, allowing it to reappear in the growth rankings for the first time since 2020.

The U-Haul Growth Index is compiled according to the net gain of one-way U-Haul trucks arriving in a city versus departing from that city in a calendar year. U-Haul’s migration trends data is compiled from more than 2 million one-way U-Haul truck transactions that occur annually across Canada and the U.S.

“Chilliwack is located only an hour from Vancouver, making it an affordable destination for our customers,” said Mason Kolahdouzan, U-Haul Company of British Columbia president. “The housing prices in Chilliwack attract people, but the outdoor activities, hiking trails, fishing spots and beautiful natural scenery convinces them to stay.”
