ABBOTSFORD — A local nonprofit is kicking off soccer festivities with a watch party in downtown Abbotsford next Friday, June 12.

Archway Community Services will be hosting a free outdoor viewing of Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina, with food from local vendors like the Pastry Portal and Master Chocolate.

“We’re excited to bring people together to watch Canada’s first game,” said Murad Ahmed, Archway Immigrant Youth Services supervisor. “As an international sport, soccer can unite fans from around the world. Events like this have the ability to create memorable experiences for newcomers in our community.”

Funding for the event was secured from local businesses and foundations, the organization said.
