CHILLIWACK — A local shelter has now reached a new milestone in improving the health of the animals under their care.

The Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven has secured two registered veterinary technologists to support its cats’ medical needs.

Funding for the new care providers comes from late founder Ena Vermerris’ life insurance policy, which names the shelter as a beneficiary, with proceeds going toward qualified veterinary care for the cats.

“Following several months of restructuring and transition, the Society has renewed its focus on animal welfare, operational stability, and the long-term health of the cats in its care,” said Executive Director Bradley Gionet. “The appointment of two Registered Veterinary Technologists marks a significant and meaningful step forward.”
