CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack-area emergency personnel responded to Highway 1 near the Vedder Canal Saturday morning (Dec. 31) for a vehicle that was engulfed in flames near the centre median of the eastbound highway.
According to footage posted on social media by Ami Elara, traffic briefly slowed while two emergency vehicles kept their distance. Their emergency lights were activated. The car burned just west of the Vedder Canal.
There were no ambulances in either direction in the footage that Elara posted.
The vehicle appeared to be a four-door Honda Accord or Hyundai Elantra.
