CHILLIWACK – A Chilliwack affordable housing project under construction is currently accepting applications for one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.

On its website, Mamele’awt Qweesome Housing Society says it is proud to introduce a new affordable housing community featuring 64 thoughtfully designed one- and two-bedroom apartments at Spadina and Main, the site of the former Cheamview United Church in downtown Chilliwack.

The housing society says the building is intended to support seniors, small families, and individuals, offering safe, comfortable, and affordable living in a welcoming environment.

Applications are now being accepted through its website, https://mqhs.ca/. Once you’re there, click on properties and then scroll down to the Spadina project on the right side of your web browser.

“We encourage those interested to complete an application to be considered for this upcoming housing opportunity,” MQHS wrote on its website.

The building has an estimated completion date of fall 2026.

The building will feature a first storey split into an indoor common amenity area with an outdoor patio and space for club or lodge uses.

Previous city staff reports indicated the upper storeys will contain 64 residential units, including 20 affordable market rental units, 33 rent geared to income units and 11 deep subsidy units.

The units range from 551 square feet to 725 square feet, while the building will have two elevators, an amenity room, on-site parking, laundry on each floor and a rooftop deck.

In early March 2025, VanMar Constructors Incorporated wrote on social media that construction had begun at 45835 Spadina Avenue in partnership with Mamele’awt Qweesome/To’o Housing Society (MQHS). BC Housing previously anticipated the building would be completed sometime in 2026.
