Woman assaults Agassiz RCMP officer during dispute on Morris Valley Road Sunday
AGASSIZ – A spokesperson for the Agassiz RCMP detachment says one of its officers was assaulted by a woman during a disturbance call on Morris Valley Road over the weekend.
According to a statement from RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener, Agassiz RCMP members responded to a disturbance on Morris Valley Road Sunday (May 3). When police arrived, they observed a man and woman located near a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road.
Police say they approached the woman but she became uncooperative and agitated. The officer tried to engage the woman through conversation to ensure her well-being, but the situation quickly escalated, Corporal Kiener said, resulting in the woman assaulting the officer.
Cpl. Kiener says the woman was arrested after “several” officers attended to de-escalate the situation.
