CHILLIWACK – Unleaded gas prices soared well above the $2/litre mark in Chilliwack after the latest overnight price hike exceeded well over 20 cents a litre.

Gas stations up and down Vedder Road in Sardis showed sharply higher prices Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours after unleaded gas prices were less than $1.90/litre at some gas stations.

A Chilliwack-area Facebook group Monday night urged people to take advantage of prices as low as $1.849/litre at places like Centex near the social assistance office on Yale Road, and Centex near Freshco.

By Tuesday morning, though, those prices were history.

Unleaded gas prices are anywhere from $2.179/litre to $2.189/litre up and down Vedder Road in Sardis. That includes Canco near Wells/Vedder, Chevron at Vedder/Knight, and Esso at Vedder/Luckakuck.

On a 30-litre fill-up, the latest increase translates to roughly $7 more. On a 50-litre fill-up, that’s over $10 more just to fill up your tank.

People in that same Facebook group urged people to fill up on Mondays since gas prices seem to increase by Tuesday mornings.
