ABBOTSFORD – Whether you see them or you don’t, there’s a good chance the Abbotsford Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is actively targeting excessive speeding somewhere in the municipality.

Case in point this past weekend when a traffic enforcement police officer conducting speed enforcement on Marshall Road intercepted a motorist going 130 km/h i a posted 50 zone.

Police say the outcome was predictable. The driver’s vehicle was impounded and the 59-year-old motorist received an excessive speeding ticket. The driver will also face higher ICBC insurance premiums.

To date, AbbyPD officers have removed 94 excessive speeders from Abbotsford-area roads, an average of over 25 per month, or nearly one a day.
