ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford police have been busy cracking down on speeders and impaired drivers this weekend.

On Saturday night (Apr. 11), frontline officers removed 14 impaired drivers from local roads.

Twelve of those files involved alcohol, and two involved drugs.

Police added that one driver was a 27-year-old woman who blew just over three times the legal alcohol limit.

The woman is now facing pending criminal charges.

“Despite ongoing education and enforcement, some drivers are clearly still not getting the message,” said the Abbotsford Police Department.

“Impaired driving puts our community at risk, permanently changes lives, and is never worth it. Enforcement will continue, and our officers remain committed to keeping Abbotsford roads safe for everyone.”

The traffic team spotted 13 of the 14 drivers and issued 25 violation tickets throughout their shift.

A 22-year-old man from Surrey was clocked excessively speeding the previous night – marking 87 total excessive speeders removed from Abbotsford roads this year to date.
