Abbotsford road shut down after vehicle crashes, strikes power pole

ABBOTSFORD – A rural Abbotsford road located east of the Abbotsford Airport was closed Tuesday morning after a vehicle struck a power pole.

According to a statement from the Abbotsford Police Department, first responders were called to Huntingdon Road between McCallum Road and Gladwin Road for a motor vehicle crash.

Police say a vehicle left the roadway and hit a power pole.

The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Power lines were down as of 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning and crews were awaiting the arrival of BC Hydro personnel to fix the damaged power pole.

It’s not immediately clear what led to the crash, but the AbbyPD noted in its statement there was heavy fog in the area.

The Pulse Point app indicates first responders were first notified about the crash at approximately 5:22 a.m. Two Abbotsford-based ambulances were notified about the crash. Paramedics were cleared from the incident at 6:35 a.m.
