“Cindy is a passionate advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and equity. Her leadership is informed by both extensive professional experience and lived experience as a mother of a child with spina bifida,” the board said. “She is committed to ensuring individuals and families have access to responsive, person-centred services and opportunities to fully participate in their communities. In her first week, she has already been actively connecting with staff, volunteers, community partners, and local leaders, learning about local priorities and listening to the experiences of those who live and work in the region, building relationships that will help support AHCS’s ongoing work and future growth.”

The board says it was impressed by Cindy’s values around community collaboration, relationship-building, and creating environments where people feel welcomed, valued, and supported. It says her vision aligns closely with AHCS’s mission of providing compassionate, responsive, and community-driven services that enhance the well-being of individuals and families throughout the region. Xavier recently relocated to the Fraser Valley to be closer to family.

The board says she is excited to become part of the Agassiz-Harrison community and to work alongside staff, volunteers, community partners, Indigenous communities, local businesses, funders, and residents to continue building on AHCS’s strong foundation and longstanding reputation for service excellence.

I believe in leading with curiosity, compassion, and authenticity, and in building relationships that strengthen communities and create a sense of belonging. I am honored to join AHCS and look forward to working together to ensure people of all ages and abilities feel connected, supported, and empowered to thrive.” Xavier said.
