VANCOUVER — After being intercepted for a pick-6 in the second quarter by St. Thomas More defender Gavin Shaw with 4:18 left in the second quarter, G.W. Graham quarterback Lucas Feaver and his fellow Grizzlies had their work cut out for them trailing 10-3 going into halftime at B.C. Place in Vancouver.

Feaver and G.W. redeemed themselves with 24 unanswered points in the second half, thanks to a quarterback keeper from Feaver to tie the game at 10-10 midway in the third quarter, before Feaver’s late fourth-quarter TD bomb extended G.W.’s lead to 20-10, and the Grizzlies advanced to the AAA provincial championship Saturday with a 27-10 win over STM.

G.W. Graham will now face Vancouver College in the AAA championship this Saturday, Dec. 3.

G.W. was tied 3-3 with STM in the second quarter until Gavin Shaw intercepted a Feaver pass and took it to the house for a 10-3 lead.

Undeterred, the Grizzlies mounted an amazing comeback when Feaver scored from about a yard out on a quarterback keeper, tying the game at 10-10 with 5:54 left in the third.

Not content with just a 13-10 lead, Feaver aired it out and found a wide open Braeden Macdonald streaking down the right sideline for a 30-yard touchdown strike to make it 20-10 with 2:42 left in the game. Feaver was under pressure but maintained his composure and connected beautifully to Macdonald, who was in single coverage.

The Grizzlies added a late score to boost their lead up to 27-10.

The Grizzlies’ only loss this year came back on Saturday, October 1 when G.W. fell to the Vancouver College Fighting Irish 28-23 in a battle of the two top-ranked AAA teams in the B.C. rankings. In that October setback, QB Lucas Feaver was 16-of-24 for 210 yards and 2 TDs.
