New driver employs ‘bold strategy’ going over 2x the speed limit, one that ultimately backfires: RCMP

LANGLEY — A new driver blazing a trail in Langley employed a “bold strategy” by going over double the speed limit in a 60 km/h zone, and is now paying the price for excessive speed that could have killed someone at that clip.

According to a statement from police, Langley RCMP officers observed a motorist driving at an astonishing 152 km/h in a 60 zone last week on 200 Street.

Police noted the driver in question had a Class 7 license.

“152 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. Bold strategy,” Langley RCMP said. “That’s not ‘building driving experience’, that’s speedrunning your way back to the passenger seat.”

An excessive speeding ticket was issued, and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days. The vehicle in question is not exactly a sports car.
