Cultus Lake Park Board reports third-quarter surplus of $2 million
CHILLIWACK — The Cultus Lake Park Board received a positive report from its chief financial officer this week showing a large influx of revenue from its peak summer season when visitors typically flock to the park to camp or hit the main beach area.
Erica Lee, chief financial officer for the park board, wrote in a staff report this past Wednesday (Nov. 23) that the park has a $2,010,573 surplus at the end of its third quarter.
The park derives much of its revenue from Sunnyside Campground and parking lot revenues. The park is largely self-sustaining by relying on campground gate proceeds, parking fees, commercial leases, residential leases, and foreshore leases, among other sources.
“With the close of the Third Quarter, Cultus Lake is currently in an overall surplus position of $2,010,573 as a result of the recently completed summer high season where the majority of campground and park revenues are received,” said Lee, who is a chartered accountant.
