23-year-old Mission man sorry for fleeing from police after Mounties conduct safety check
MISSION – Police in Mission say a 23-year-old Mission man who was allegedly slumped over behind the steering wheel of his Ram 1500 pickup truck has apologized for fleeing from police after Mounties went to check on him this past week.
According to a statement from the Mission RCMP detachment, a witness notified police on Friday night, February 6, at approximately 11 p.m., that a man was slumped over behind the steering wheel of a black Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. The Ram truck had been stopped near the Mission Sports Park.
Police say that when an officer responded and initiated a traffic stop with the truck, it immediately sped away.
RCMP members were able to locate the truck pulled over further south on Oyama Street at which time officers boxed in the pickup truck to prevent the driver from speeding away again.
