Chilliwack elementary school undergoes hold and secure amid nearby police incident

CHILLIWACK – A Chilliwack elementary school was placed in a hold and secure Tuesday morning after police received a report of a stabbing, which was later unfounded.

According to a statement from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener, police were called to Teskey Road in Promontory after getting reports of a stabbing.

Chilliwack firefighters were also paged at approximately 10:07 a.m. for a reported stabbing in the 4900 block of Teskey Road.

Cpl. Kiener says police were able to confirm that no stabbing had occurred, and no one was injured.

“The situation has been resolved and there was never a risk to the public,” Cpl. Kiener said. “Air ambulance was not required for this situation and Emegency Health Services was put on stand by in the event medical services were needed, which they were not.”

A helicopter landed in a Promontory field along Sylvan Drive but left the scene after they were not needed.

Cpl. Kiener says the elementary school, Promontory Heights Community School, was put on hold and secure out of an abundance of caution but that has since been lifted.

Instead of a reported stabbing, scanner traffic indicated a patient was in an “extended delirium.”
