Fraser Canyon Hospital undergoes brief lockdown Tuesday morning

HOPE – Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope experienced a brief lockdown Tuesday morning, and it’s not clear what prompted the temporary lockdown.

A Facebook community group based in Hope reported that there was some kind of lockdown Tuesday morning at the hospital in Hope.

A Fraser Health spokesperson says Fraser Canyon Hospital was on controlled access for about one hour.

“Occasionally, we must control access to a hospital to ensure the safety and security of staff, patients and the public,” FHA spokesperson Carrie Stefanson told Fraser Valley Today in an email, adding that health authority personnel are limited in what they can reveal.

Patient care was not impacted and the hospital remains fully operational, Stefanson said.
