Shots fired, vehicles on fire in Maple Ridge: RCMP

MAPLE RIDGE – Mounties in Maple Ridge are investigating an incident of shots fired and two torched vehicles at a Maple Ridge home over the weekend.

According to a statement from the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment, police were called to the 12700 block of 227B Street in Maple Ridge on Saturday morning, Feb. 7 at approximately 4:45 a.m.

Responding RCMP members observed two vehicles on fire in the driveway of a residence in the area, along with evidence of shots being fired at the residence.

Police say the occupants of the residence were promptly evacuated, and Maple Ridge Fire & Rescue attended to extinguish the fire. No injuries were sustained by any of the occupants of the home.

Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit has taken control of the ongoing investigation, which is still in the early stages.

Officers are reviewing video surveillance in the area and speaking with any witnesses to identify possible suspects or suspect vehicles. All avenues of investigation are being explored, and officers are not ruling anything out at this time.
