CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Cultural Centre is presenting a pair of upcoming performances for the community. On March 4, the production Josephine takes to the stage. One night later, singer Danielle McTaggart moves into the spotlight.

Josephine will feature a combination of theatre, dance and cabaret performances by Tymisha Harris to tell the story of Josephine Baker. Baker is considered the first African-American superstar of the twentieth century. The one-woman musical tells the story of Baker’s important role in civil rights and shattering stereotypes of race and gender.

“I hope that the audience is wildly entertained by the music and dancing and that they learn something new about the life of one of the most fascinating human beings of the 20th century,” says Harris, who is also the co-creator of the production.

The next night the stage will belong to Canadian vocalist Danielle McTaggart for her intimate performance of poetic music as a member of Larkk. McTaggart may be best known as the voice behind the JUNO award winning duo Dear Rouge. Larkk is her latest project, working with American writer Derrick Brown to create emotionally rich songs.
