32-year-old Surrey man charged for alleged sexual assault aboard Lower Mainland transit buses
SURREY – Metro Vancouver Transit Police say charges have been approved by Crown counsel against a 32-year-old Surrey man for two incidents of alleged sexual assault aboard transit buses in the Lower Mainland.
Transit police said a woman contacted police in July 2025 about being sexually assaulted while travelling on a bus in Surrey. Transit Police officers attended and arrested a 32-year-old man from Surrey. Upon further investigation by detectives in the Transit Police’s investigations unit, police were able to link the man to a second incident of alleged sexual assault from April 2025 on a Surrey bus. In that case, the incident was reported to police after being disclosed to a school counsellor.
Mohammad Wardak, a 32-year-old man from Surrey, has been charged with sexual assault in relation to both incidents. Police say he has been released from custody and is subject to court-imposed conditions, including a “no go” to any public transportation buses, SkyTrain or West Coast Express.
“Transit Police encourages anyone who has experiences or witnesses a sexual offence on transit to report it. Reducing sexual offences on transit is a priority for us, and we take all reports seriously,” said Transit Police Constable Amanda Steed.
