IIO launches probe after one person suffers serious injuries from crash in Surrey
SURREY — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) says it is investigating a motor vehicle incident that sent one person to hospital with serious injuries Wednesday morning.
According to a statement from the IIO, information furnished by Surrey Police Service indicates that an SPS officer driving a marked police vehicle witnessed an allegedly stolen black Ford F350 truck near 88 Avenue and Holt Road in Surrey at about 5:25 a.m. Wednesday morning, Jan. 21. Police told the IIO that the F350 drove away.
The F350 was subsequently involved in a collision at the intersection of 88 Avenue and 128 Street with a dark-coloured Honda Accord, and a person riding a motorized scooter. The driver of the F350 left the area on foot.
The rider of the scooter sustained serious injuries in the collision and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The driver and sole occupant of the Accord was not seriously harmed.
