Abbotsford Police nab driver doing more than 3x the speed limit in construction zone
ABBOTSFORD — A motorist in Abbotsford will face some steep fines and higher insurance rates after being clocked at more than triple the speed in a construction zone Monday.
The Abbotsford Police Department says traffic enforcement was a key focus throughout the city on Monday. Their efforts paid off in a big way as officers issued 65 violation tickets, and two vehicles were impounded.
Of those 65 violation tickets given to drivers, one motorist made a poor decision to travel 95 km/h in a posted 30 km/h construction zone.
So far this year, Abbotsford Police officers have issued 400 violation tickets, impounded 26 vehicles for excessive speed and removed 73 impaired drivers from Abbotsford-area roadways.
