CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack councillors are set to vote this week on a $1.4 million project to construct two squash courts at one of the two municipal rec centres in Chilliwack.

According to item 7.6 on this Tuesday’s agenda, the City of Chilliwack issued an RFP (request for proposal) for a squash court expansion at the Landing Leisure Centre, 9145 Corbould Street. Submissions were received by the RFP closing date of Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from three pre-qualified companies, also defined as proponents by the city.

The lowest bid from Gerry Enns Contracting Ltd., in the amount of $1,448,744, earned them the highest ranking, followed by n. Wallace & Company Ltd. ($1,545,257) and Titan Construction ($1,787,714).

The project will consist of a 2,800-square foot building addition featuring two squash courts, open squash viewing space, office/meeting room and storage areas. The squash court addition will be constructed as an addition to the existing Landing Leisure Centre and will be accessed from the second-floor weight room. The existing underutilized weight room patio will serve as a foundation for the addition and will help minimize construction costs.

According to a municipal staff report, the city identified a need for additional squash courts locally. This location will provide efficiencies with existing onsite staffing as well as providing new recreational opportunities for existing Landing Leisure Centre patrons.

Construction is slated to begin in February 2026, with a projected completion date of August 2026.

The project has been reviewed and received approvals through the Design Review Advisory Committee and both the planning and building departments.
