RCMP, partners remove over 55% of inspected commercial vehicles from Lower Mainland roads in 2025
LOWER MAINLAND — It doesn’t bode well for the trucking industry in British Columbia when over 55 per cent of inspected commercial vehicles in the Lower Mainland were removed from area roads in 2025.
According to a statement from RCMP spokesperson Constable Kevin Connolly, more than half of the commercial vehicles inspected in the Lower Mainland and Burnaby during targeted enforcement in 2025 had safety violations that warranted their removal.
Over the past year, a dozen partner agencies, including Langley and Surrey officials, joined forces with Burnaby RCMP Traffic Services to conduct joint commercial vehicle enforcement operations across the Lower Mainland. Of the 2901 inspections carried out, just over 1,600 commercial vehicles (56 per cent) were placed out of service.
