Abbotsford police officers recognized by Alexa’s team

ABBOSTFORD — 11 officers with the Abbotsford Police Department have been named to Alexa’s Team in recognition of their efforts to keep streets free of drug or alcohol impaired drivers.

Alexa’s Team was created in 2009 by the family of Alexa Middelaer, a four-year-old child who was killed by an impaired driver in Delta in 2008.

“Unfortunately, impaired driving can have fatal and life-changing consequences. I am very proud of the combined efforts of these eleven AbbyPD officers who in 2021 removed 474 impaired drivers from our roadways,” said Deputy Chief Constable Brett Crosby-Jones.

The following 11 officers were recognized for their efforts over the year 2021: Cpl. Phil Sawatsky; Cst. Kim Jones; Cst. Pete Quaglia; Cst. Jenni Richter; Cst. Rob Dyck; Cst. Christina Chellew; Cst. Eric Olson; Cst. Ryan Clary; Cst. Elliot Westergaard; Cst. Micah Jansen VanDoorn; and Scott McClure
