High streamflow advisories, Abbotsford evacuation alerts rescinded as water levels decrease
ABBOTSFORD — Communities affected by recent flooding can now focus on recovery as river levels continue to subside.
On Friday, December 19, the BC River Forecast Centre lifted high streamflow advisories for the Chilliwack and Sumas Rivers due to declining flows.
“Flows in some lake-fed river systems remain high, but are expected to continue to see easing into the weekend,” said the Centre in an update.
Rivers are expected to remain below levels of concern through next week, with colder weather and snow falling across mid- and high-elevation terrain.
