Chilliwack RCMP clarifies missing 29-year-old man has been found deceased

CHILLIWACK — More than six months after he was first reported missing, Chilliwack RCMP announced Tuesday (Nov. 1) that a missing 29-year-old man is deceased.

According to a statement from Corporal Martin Godard, media relations officer for the Chilliwack RCMP detachment, Mounties have confirmed that 29-year-old Bret Lance McLaren has died.

“The RCMP can confirm the 29-year-old male reported missing on April 11, 2022, has been located deceased,” the statement on Tuesday afternoon, November 1 read.

The RCMP added that it extends its sincerest condolences to family and friends of Bret Lance McLaren.

“The RCMP would like to thank the media and public for their assistance,” the statement read.

He was previously last seen in February, prompting the media blitz from the RCMP in April to help locate McLaren.

Earlier in the day, a statement from the RCMP simply indicated the following: “The RCMP can confirm the 29-year-old male reported missing on April 11, 2022, has been located. Thanks to the media and public for your assistance.”
