CHILLIWACK — Cultus Lake residents are asked to prepare for heavy rainfall and blustery winds ahead of a forecasted storm that will arrive sometime today and last through Friday.

The Fraser Valley is expecting at least 40 millimetres of heavy rainfall along with gusty winds exceeding 50 kilometres an hour from Thursday, Oct. 27 to Friday, Oct. 28.

Joe Lamb, chief administrative officer for the Cultus Lake Park Board, posted on Facebook Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 26) that residential leaseholders in Cultus Lake are invited to use the park board office in the event of a power outage.

“If you experience power outages during this time, the Cultus Lake Park Office Boardroom will be available to residents and guests in need of power,” Lamb wrote on Facebook. “We welcome you to utilize the Park office to charge cell phones or enjoy a warm cup of coffee.”

Cultus Lake Park staff are requesting the assistance of residential leaseholders to clear storm drains near their residence in preparation for the increased precipitation, Lamb advised on Facebook.

Public works staff from the park board will be monitoring storm events and will be responding to situations on a first priority basis.
