BURNABY – Police in Burnaby have confirmed that one person died after a structure fire at a high-rise apartment building in Burnaby early Tuesday morning.
Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Mike Kalanj said frontline RCMP members responded to a responded to a request from Burnaby Fire Department at just after 4:30 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 29) to assist with a structure fire at a high-rise apartment building in the 4200 block of Grange Street, near Barker Avenue.
Cpl. Kalanj said police aided with evacuating residents and shut down traffic in both directions on Grange Street for several hours.
Despite attempted life-saving measures, Cpl. Kalanj confirmed one person succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.
