Thousands lose power in Sardis, Promontory Tuesday – hours after major outage was resolved

CHILLIWACK – Hours after an outage affecting thousands of customers in Chilliwack was resolved, yet another power outage is being reported Tuesday morning.

BC Hydro’s online dashboard indicates that 4,633 customers lost power at 10:57 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The impacted areas consist of homes and businesses north of Chilliwack Lake Road, east of Hopedale Road, south of Prairie Central Road, and west of Elkview Road.

In short, the affected neighbourhoods include Sardis, Promontory, Ryder Lake, and the surrounding areas.

The cause is under investigation. Crews have been assigned.

BC Hydro’s website was last updated at 11:05 a.m.

Earlier today, power was restored to over 5,500 customers who lost power shortly before 4 a.m. Their power was restored sometime between 7:40 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.
