Community marks grand opening of new regional rec centre and pool in Agassiz

KENT — A new regional facility, more than four years in the making, has now opened its doors in Agassiz.

The District of Kent invited residents to the newly built Lets’emό:t Regional Recreation and Aquatic Centre at 6660 Pioneer Avenue at 1 p.m. this afternoon (Sept. 25) for facility tours and remarks from local officials.

“The newly expanded facility is the result of a vision to create a welcoming, accessible space where people of all ages can swim, play, stay active, and connect,” said the District. “In the spirit of Lets’emό:t, Halq’eméylem for ‘One Heart, One Mind’, bring your family, invite your friends, and come celebrate this exciting milestone with us!”

The area’s Ferny Coombe Pool was built in 1978 and is now roughly a decade past its life expectancy.
