Damage to Chilliwack FSR bridge raises concerns about emergency access in the CRV
CHILLIWACK RIVER VALLEY – For rural Chilliwack-area residents like Derrick Kramer, there’s only one primary arterial in and out of the Chilliwack River Valley, and that’s on Chilliwack Lake Road.
And if a wildfire, major flooding event or other significant incident were to render Chilliwack Lake Road inoperable or closed, a secondary evacuation route through a forest service road could still serve as a lifeline in case of a natural disaster.
Which is why Kramer has been speaking up about damage to a bridge on Bench Road, located north of Chilliwack Lake Road.
Kramer says the bridge on Bench Road was reportedly damaged during an atmosphere river event.
