Langley RCMP to step up enforcement during Good Times Cruise-In

LANGLEY — Langley RCMP will increase patrols and traffic enforcement before and during the annual Langley Good Times Cruise-In, warning drivers against illegal and unsanctioned car gatherings. The event, planned for Saturday September 12, brings thousands of visitors to the community to celebrate classic cars and raise money for local charities.

Police say officers have responded in previous years to illegal car gatherings where stunting and excessive speeding occurred. Such driving creates unsafe conditions for participants, spectators and other road users, police said. It also disrupts residents, generating complaints to police and diverting resources from other public safety needs.

As part of proactive enforcement, officers will conduct increased patrols in known gathering areas and target dangerous driving and excessive noise. Tickets, vehicle impoundments and other penalties under the Motor Vehicle Act may also be issued where appropriate.

“We are urging people to refrain from participating in unlawful driving activities to ensure that the Cruise-In remains a safe and enjoyable event for everyone,” said Inspector David Wise of the Langley RCMP. “If you choose to ignore this warning, you risk fines, having your vehicle impounded, and possible criminal charges.”
