‘No deal is better than a bad deal’: Eby commits to supporting B.C. businesses amid U.S. trade disruptions
VANCOUVER — Premier David Eby is standing firm on B.C.’s stance against the latest round of tariffs from U.S. President Donald Trump, which includes measures protecting trade-exposed businesses, such as those within the Fraser Valley.
“The reality that manifested that there couldn’t be an agreement, that we couldn’t agree that the terms of the Americans were put forward, was unfortunate. It’s bad news for everybody in North America, without question,” said Eby.
“But the message that I’ve been delivering on behalf of British Columbians and that I’ve heard from my colleagues across the country is that no deal is better than a bad deal.”
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, August 22, Eby mentioned that British Columbia is one of the most exposed provinces to the newest tariffs and, overall, one of the most exposed provinces nationwide to the American trade war.
