Lockdown in place at Mission jail after prisoner allegedly gets stabbed

MISSION — A lockdown and search are being held at a medium-security unit in Mission this week.

According to a news release from Correctional Service Canada, a lockdown has been put in place at Mission Institution starting on Tuesday, August 18, to allow staff to search the facility following an inmate assault.

“The search was ordered to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff, and inmates,” said CSC.

An anonymous source told Fraser Valley Today that the inmate was stabbed and airlifted to hospital at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
