Vehicle stolen from Chilliwack neighbourhood found near homeless camp close to Chilliwack Lake Road

CHILLIWACK – Police in Chilliwack say a vehicle stolen from Cook Street was found at a parking lot on Chilliwack Lake Road near a homeless camp, leading to the arrest of two people and the seizure of small quantities of drugs.

Corporal Carmen Kiener says Chilliwack RCMP received a report of suspicious activity involving a vehicle that had recently arrived in a parking lot on Chilliwack Lake Road. The caller reported seeing a man and woman retrieving items from the vehicle before walking into a nearby forested area.

As officers responded to the area, they learned the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day from Cook Street. Police gathered descriptions of the individuals associated with the vehicle and located a man and woman matching those descriptions at a nearby encampment.

The man and woman were arrested pursuant to the investigation. A search of the suspects led to the seizure of small quantities of suspected illicit substances and evidence linking the pair to the stolen vehicle.
