Meth, THC among contraband seized at Agassiz medium security prison
AGASSIZ — Staff have completed a lockdown and exceptional search at Mountain Institution, a medium-security federal prison in Agassiz.
The lockdown started Monday, July 13, and has since yielded a number of contraband items, such as meth, THC concentrate, steroids, tobacco and cellphones.
The seizures are estimated to have an institutional value of $180,330.
“The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions,” said the CSC. “These tools include ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.”
