The Blue Jays responded in the third thanks to an infield single Kazuma Okamoto that scored Nathan Lukes. Toronto then made it 2-2 in the fourth when Lukes singled Ernie Clement home from second.

The Yankees retook the lead when Volpe drove home Schuemann for a second time in the sixth, but Schneider thumped his second homer of the season to centre in the bottom of the inning before Rice and Caballero put the Yankees ahead for good in the ninth.
