CHILLIWACK – Operations are winding down at a clothing store inside the Cottonwood Centre mall in Chilliwack.

According to online creditor filings via monitor Alvarez and Monsal, Warehouse One Limited Inc. and Bootlegger filed for creditor protection due to insolvency on May 6, 2026. Officially, they commenced proceedings under the Companies’ Creditor Arrangement Act.

As of April 29, 2026, Warehouse One operated 128 leased retail stores in Canada, with the majority located in Western Canada. The privately held company has approximately 982 part-time and full-time non-unionized employees across Canada.

Court filings state Warehouse One has suffered financial losses due to a series of challenges that have negatively impacted profitability. For example, the company cites increased competition in the market and consumer uptake of what it calls “ultra low cost” fashion retailers and other online competition, certain operational challenges and losses arising from the 2025 acquisition of Bootlegger, and generally poor sales performance.

As a result of these court filings, store closure signs now appear in the Warehouse store inside Cottonwood. One promotional sign indicates inventory is between 20 per cent and 40 per cent off, while another says no inventory will be held back.

It’s not immediately clear when exactly the company will close its doors, but it’s likely it will happen before the end of summer, according to a Fraser Valley employee.

As of Wednesday, May 20, all items in the Chilliwack store are least 20 per cent off. All sales are final, and gift cards are no longer accepted. Gift cards had been honoured and accepted until Wednesday, May 13.

The store had an extensive jeans inventory as of Wednesday, though people have commented on Facebook that its overall inventory is limited.

Warehouse One’s website says online ordering has ended. It directs people to visit their nearest store instead.

The next nearest Warehouse One location is in Abbotsford at Sevenoaks.

The Cottonwood Centre mall has seen several stores close over the past 15 months, including Cora Breakfast and Lunch in April 2026. That location now has a sign on its window stating it is for lease.

Other Cottonwood Centre businesses that have closed in the past 16 months include Claire’s (September 2025), Bootlegger and Ricki’s. The latter two closed in spring 2025.

West 49 closed in January 2025 and was replaced by SoftMoc.
