Man charged after vehicle rampage in Vancouver injures scooter rider
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA — A man has been charged in a vehicle ramming in Vancouver that left the rider of a mobility scooter critically injured and destroyed a police cruiser.
Vancouver police say the 34-year-old suspect is facing four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm in the incident Friday in Vancouver’s West End.
Police say a vehicle drove erratically through a section of Nelson Park, hitting trees and other obstacles and striking a senior on a scooter, who remains in serious condition.
They say the vehicle then rammed a police vehicle responding to the incident, destroying the cruiser, flipping the other vehicle and sending two officers to hospital for treatment.
