MAPLE RIDGE — Kids in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows may have more fun after school thanks to some provincial funding for a new playground.

Fairview Elementary in School District 42 is among 25 schools receiving $200,000 to construct new, accessible playgrounds this year.

“Playgrounds are outdoor classrooms that teach our children valuable life skills – exploration, imagination, risk taking,” said Premier David Eby. “This is about making life better for our children and easing the fundraising pressure on parents and schools, so they can focus on other great things for their kids.”

Other Fraser Valley-area schools to receive the grant include Sunshine Hills Elementary in Delta and Georges Vanier Elementary in Surrey.
