ABBOTSFORD — City officials say construction is going to ramp up for nearly two months on a section of Livingstone Avenue as part of a major provincial project to widen Highway 1 in Abbotsford.

Smaller work may start Monday, May 4, with pile installation near Fishtrap Creek.

“Residents may notice increased daytime noise and vibration during this period,” said the City of Abbotsford.

Single-lane alternating traffic will then be implemented the following week, “as early as” May 11, on Livingstone Avenue between Mall Access Road and Gardner Park Access.

The lane will operate 24 hours a day until the end of June.

Work will include relocating a culvert and installing new storm drain infrastructure to reduce localized flooding during heavy rain.

Motorists can still access local businesses, homes, and Gardner Park throughout the construction period.

The Highway 11 Interchange Project is expected to be completed in 2031.
