Members help clean Chilliwack golf course after intoxicated youth drives over property

CHILLIWACK — The community has shown up for a local golf course as police continue to investigate damage dealt to it by a group of youth early this week.

On March 23, at around 11:45 p.m., Chilliwack RCMP responded to a report of a car being recklessly driven on the Falls Golf Course and found a matching vehicle leaving the area.

The car was pulled over, and police found that all four occupants of the vehicle were youths who showed signs of intoxication.

The driver received a 90-day roadside ban, the car was impounded for 30 days, and the remaining three occupants were arrested for further investigation regarding the damage to Hole 16.

All four were released back into the care of their respective guardians.

“The actions in this incident caused extensive damage to private property and posed a serious safety risk,” said Cpl. Carmen Kiener. “Our investigators are continuing to gather and assess all available evidence to ensure a thorough and complete investigation.”

The Falls Golf Club has since shared some wholesome light as investigation continues.

A group of members showed up on Thursday morning (Mar. 26) to help clean the course, unprompted.

“No fanfare, no credit, just people stepping up because they care about this place and this community,” said the Golf Club. “After a tough situation, it’s moments like this that really stick.”

No charges have been laid at this time.
