Police confirm shots fired overnight in Sumas Prairie east of Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD/SUMAS PRAIRIE – Abbotsford police are investigating a confirmed incident of shots fired overnight in Sumas Prairie east of Abbotsford.

According to a brief recap provided by Abbotsford PD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, officers responded to the 4600 block of Tolmie Road following a report of shots fired at approximately 3 a.m. Monday morning (Feb. 2).

Officers located evidence on the roadway confirming that a shooting had occurred.

No victims or suspects were located, and the motive remains under investigation.

When asked whether there were an abundance of bullet casings in the area, Sgt. Walker told Fraser Valley Today it doesn’t appear many shots were fired.

“Very few casings. No indications at all that it’s extortion-related,” Sgt. Walker said. “Nothing suspicious in the area either at first glance.”
