ABBOTSFORD — With party invites coming left and right, Abbotsford police are looking to encourage residents to drive sober with a new impaired driving initiative.

AbbyPD has relaunched “Think of Me: Don’t Drive Impaired” in partnership with Angry Otter Liquor Stores, the Abbotsford School District and ICBC – a campaign urging motorists to stay safe through over 1,300 liquor paper bags designed by local middle and high school students.

“This campaign is a powerful example of how student voices can help influence positive choices in our community,” said Dr. Nathan Ngieng, superintendent of schools for SD34. “By sharing messages created by our students, we’re reminding drivers that their decisions matter.”

ICBC reports an average of 65 drunk driving-related deaths across B.C. this year.

Abbotsford police officers have also removed 1,170 impaired drivers from local roads so far in 2025.

“Impaired driving has life-altering consequences. This holiday season, we want you to make it home safely to your loved ones. Choose to drive responsibly and ensure a safe reunion to your friends and family,” said Sgt. Paul Walker with AbbyPD.
